Feb 03, 2009 -- Fight the Right-Wing Wackos Links of the Day.

** Save Our Environment **

Last week, the House passed an Economic Stimulus Bill that includes critical clean energy and water initiatives. Now the bill has moved to the Senate, but these initiatives are at risk of being cut from the bill.

Please urge your senators to not only include these investments in green energy and clean water, but also to INCREASE them.

Send your message to your senators and help ensure that we make smart investments today that will protect and restore our valuable natural resources and set us on the path to a clean energy economy. Hurry! They'll be casting their votes on the stimulus bill this week.

Any day now the Senate will vote on the economic stimulus package. This package contains a number of job creating, economy stimulating projects, including ones for our national parks.

Unfortunately, the Senate proposal falls short of what the national parks need to get these ready-to-go, job creating projects off the ground while also addressing their almost $9 billion backlog-- and we need to act now.

If we cannot maintain the level of funding outlined in the House proposal our economy may be short-changed of thousands of jobs- and our parks will suffer too. Congress is moving fast and we can't let this opportunity slip by us.

Write your Senators TODAY and urge them to support a greater investment for job creating-projects that help our economy and our national parks. Take action!

It is hard to believe that John McCain has actually found someone more anti-choice, more extreme, and even more dangerous than he is for women, for health care, and for our country. But, he did. We are deeply concerned about what lies ahead if McCain and Palin are elected — dissappearing reproductive health rights, dramatically decreased access to health care services for poor people, and a return to the dark ages when it comes to accurate and comprehensive sex education.

Please join us meeting Sarah Palin in St. Louis by signing our open letter stating clearly why she is not your candidate. We need millions of people to sign this open letter — and we'll display signs with the open letter all over the city, representing to John McCain, to Sarah Palin, and to every voter before Election Day the sheer diversity and the enormous number of people who cannot and will not support McCain and Palin and why. It starts with you.

You can add your name here.

The scope of the contaminated Chinese infant formula scandal has widened to include milk-derived ingredients. Some of these ingredients may have entered the United States for use in processed foods.

Please ask the Food and Drug Administration to stop the import of dairy ingredients from China until this situation is under control.

Drilling for oil and natural gas, and mining for coal has already taken a dramatic toll on our country's public lands, wildlife habitat and natural resources.

Now, Congress is considering a proposal to end a moratorium on development of oil shale – a dangerous, new energy source which would threaten two million acres of America's public lands!

Click here to urge Congress to oppose oil shale and support clean energy policies.

July 14, 2008 -- Your Fight the Right-Wing Wacko Links of the Day.

** Sierra Club **
Last week governors across the West convened at the Western Governors' Association conference in Wyoming. At this conference your governor pledged to protect the West’s most important wildlife corridors from oil and gas drilling. As you know, elk, deer, pronghorn and other wildlife require habitat protected from oil and gas drilling.

We now need to ask U.S. Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne to support our governors in their attempts to control drilling and protect wildlife.

Oil and gas drilling has exploded across the West, disrupting the lives and traditions of people and wildlife here. It is time for some balance to be restored in managing our lands and resources.

Ask Secretary Kempthorne to support protections for the West's wildlife corridors now!

** Fox Attacks **You're not going to believe what FOX is up to now-we could hardly believe it ourselves. Not only are they smearing Michelle Obama with racist stereotypes, but then they offer a feeble apology that they believe gives them the right to slander her again. That's what happened when FOX called Michelle and Barack Obama's fist bump a "terrorist fist jab," apologized, and then less than a week later referred to Michelle Obama as Barack's "Baby Mama."

FOX's long history of racism is nothing new, but it has been particularly egregious when it comes to their coverage of the Obamas. Racism and fearmongering have no place in our country or its politics, despite what FOX would have you believe. That's why we put together this video, FOX Attacks Michelle Obama.

We cannot allow FOX's heinous smears and scare tactics to continue. Sign our petition and stop FOX from injecting racism, prejudice, and fear into our political dialogue.

Anti-environmentalists in Congress are adding amendments to every bill they can get their hands on, calling for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, many offshore areas, and other sensitive regions—even to bills that aren't remotely related to energy!

Drilling is NOT the answer to our energy crisis.

Tell your members of Congress that we must pursue clean, renewable energy alternatives. Drilling in the Arctic and off our beaches will only perpetuate our dependence on dirty fossil fuels and slow progress towards a clean energy future.
