Please ask the phony government of Myanmar to ensure delivery of international aid in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis.
Send an e-mail to the assholes in charge of the government of Myanmar to ensure that humanitarian aid is distributed to the victims of Cyclone Nargis and that they cooperate with international relief efforts.

Ship strikes are taking their toll on the North Atlantic right whale as these gentle giants migrate through busy shipping lanes on the eastern seaboard. But the Bush/Cheney Administration refuses to intervene -- choosing instead to do nothing as these marine mammals continue to move toward extinction.
But there’s new hope in the Senate as legislation introduced by Sens. John Kerry and Olympia Snowe makes its way through Congress.
Tell your Senators to support The Ship Strike Reduction Act of 2008 (S. 2657) -- vital legislation to protect right whales.

In this very important election year, will a small handful of companies gain even more control over what we see, hear and read every day?
Click here to tell your senators and Majority Leader Reid to reverse the FCC's recent decision to allow greater media consolidation.

Faced with a global food crisis, Congress has a major opportunity to provide desperately needed funding to help those facing increased hunger due to high food prices. Congress is in final negotiations on the farm bill right now and this legislation could help address the crisis. Currently farmers making $1 million a year receive support from the farm bill, but the poor affected by the food crisis do not. Does that sound right to you?
Tell Congress to shift funds from wasteful subsides for wealthy farmers and help address the unprecedented challenge of skyrocketing food prices.

Recently, the New York Times exposed a secret Pentagon campaign to infiltrate the media with pro-war propaganda.
The scheme reaches all the way to the Bush White House, where top officials recruited dozens of "military analysts" to spread favorable views of the war via every major news channel -- without revealing they were working from Pentagon scripts and often lobbying for major military contractors.
Spreading "covert propaganda" is illegal under federal law. Congress must investigate these military pundits and their ties to the Bush administration, defense contractors and our national news media.
Tell Congress: Investigate the Propaganda Pundits.

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe's cousin and closest political advisor has just been arrested for connections with murderous right-wing paramilitaries! This development can sink Bush's proposed Colombia NAFTA expansion. Write your representative today and urge him or her to oppose the outrageous Colombia FTA.

In April 2004, the Chinese journalist Shi Tao used his Yahoo! email account to send a message to a U.S.-based pro-democracy website. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for "illegally providing state secrets to foreign entities." Disturbingly, Yahoo! provided information to the government for his prosecution.
Enough is enough. Companies like Yahoo!, Google and Microsoft have sacrificed international human rights standards, and their own corporate missions, in pursuit of new and lucrative markets. Act now to end the censorship of the internet, ask your Representative to support H.R. 275, the Global Online Freedom Act.

If the Bush administration and a Denver-based natural gas company get their way, Utah's remarkable Nine Mile Canyon may soon be transformed into a massive industrial zone.
We need your immediate action to halt this destructive scheme in its tracks. The deadline for submitting comments on the plan is May 1!
Please go to http://www.savebiogems.org/redrock/takeaction
right away and tell the Bureau of Land Management to reject this disastrous proposal, which would put more than 800 new natural gas wells in the Greater Nine Mile Canyon area -- home to the greatest concentration of rock art sites in America.

Just when you think it can't get any worse, the Bush Administration finds a new way to shock the conscience. Yesterday, ABC News reported that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice chaired explicit White House discussions about which torture techniques should be used on prisoners.
They "were so detailed" that "some of the interrogation sessions were almost choreographed -- down to the number of times CIA agents could use a specific tactic."
This is the first time that we have evidence that senior officials, "not only discussed specific plans and specific interrogation methods, but approved them". Given these new revelations, Condoleezza Rice can not continue as Secretary of State.

Robert Mugabe's government has withheld the results of the national elections--and threatens to use violence and fraud to hold on to power.
Mugabe has resisted international pressure--but South Africa's Thabo Mbeki, who has Mugabe's ear, might listen. A global outcry is needed to ensure that Mbeki knows his status as a global and regional leader is on the line: the world is turning to him to help bring justice for the people of Zimbabwe.
This petition will be delivered through diplomatic channels, media--and an event on Wednesday, April 16, when Mbeki travels to the United Nations to chair a special meeting of the UN Security Council.

One million children have been forced from their homes. Over two million Darfuri civilians have been displaced by the violence that has gripped the region around Darfur. Countless families, friends and communities require humanitarian assistance. The price for supporting the peacekeeping mission and restoring stability in Darfur is high. Your actions can be worth millions. Tell Congress to ensure funding for peacekeeping efforts in Darfur.

To avoid the worst effects of global warming, we must replace electricity generated from dirty coal and other fossil fuels with clean, renewable energy from sources like the wind, sun, and energy crops. One option for fulfilling our clean energy needs is carefully-sited offshore wind initiatives like the proposed Cape Wind project.
Help Cape Wind Move Forward. Send an e-mail today to Director Randall Luthi, Minerals Management Service.

Despite rallying cries around the world, China continues its harsh crackdown on protesters in Tibet and internal dissent, most recently by imprisoning noted human rights activist Hu Jia.
The Monkey King Bush has a unique opportunity to speak out for those who are silenced. By boycotting the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics, Monkey King Bush can join other world leaders in urging China to stop its repression of activists and work to improve human rights at home and in Darfur and Burma where China wields great influence.

The Monkey King Bush recently announced that he would be attending the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing. We are urging him to pressure China for human rights improvements before the Games. Despite promises to improve its human rights record, China has become increasingly repressive in the run up to the Olympics. Human rights activists are detained without trial, journalists are harassed and imprisoned, “re-education through labor” programs and executions continue unabated.
Send an e-mail to Monkey King Bush and demand the man-bitch to change his simple mind.

Please help us give Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee the grassroots support they need to halt consideration of any more controversial Monkey King Bush judicial nominees.
There's a longstanding practice, popularly known as the "Thurmond Rule," of processing only non-controversial nominees in the several months before a presidential election.
It's time for the Committee Dems to invoke this rule. Tell them by adding your name to our petition at:

New Government Report Shows FDA Fails to Protect the Public. (Does this really surprise you though?)
Please take immediate action and tell your congress members to make food safety a priority. Let them know we are tired of the FDA putting our safety at risk.

Demand the release of 15 Tibetan monks who were detained on March 10 for staging a peaceful demonstration in Barkhor, Lhasa, the capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. There is no information on their current whereabouts or of any charges brought against them. They are at high risk of torture and other ill treatment.

The genocide in Darfur has entered its sixth year. The Sudanese government has reinvigorated its campaign to frighten, displace and kill civilians, raising fears of an increasingly deadly cycle in the ongoing conflict.
Congress will soon determine funding levels of U.S. international assistance—money that can be used immediately to help meet the needs of the Darfuri people. AJWS needs your help to ensure that Congress provides adequate funding for both humanitarian aid and peacekeeping.

We are approaching a critical moment in the campaign to stop the foreclosure crisis. The U.S. Senate is considering a bill (S. 2636) with a key provision that would fix bankruptcy policies to allow borrowers to restructure their mortgages in bankruptcy court.
Right now, more than 600,000 families may lose their homes. We can stop this from happening, but we need our senators to do the right thing.
Can you urge your senators to vote to let families restructure their mortgages in bankruptcy?

2007 was the earth's second warmest year on record - only 2005 was warmer. And last week scientists discovered a piece of Antarctica the size of Connecticut is breaking off.
Please join me in telling the House: Global warming is the greatest environmental crisis we face, and we need solutions now!
** Laborers' International Union of North America (LiUNA!) **
Now more than ever America needs relief from the housing and mortgage crisis. As many as 3 million families face foreclosure. In 2007 alone, 232,000 construction workers lost their jobs. And the crisis threatens retirement security.
But under a little-known provision of the Foreclosure Prevention Act pending in Congress, corporate homebuilders would get as much as $33 billion in tax breaks—even though they made billions in profits through subprime lending and speculative investors that helped create the current crisis.
Much of the Foreclosure Prevention Act provides needed help for families in distress, but it should not reward corporations that put them in distress. Tell your Senators now!
