While President-elect Obama intends to roll back several of Bush's worst policies, we can't wait for January before taking action. We have one last chance to get the Bush administration to do something good for the planet.
The EPA is considering whether or not greenhouse gases represent a danger to public health and welfare. If the agency were to determine that greenhouse gases do in fact endanger the public, it would be required to take a number of regulatory actions.

We expect the Bush administration’s Department of Labor to shortly announce new guestworker (H2A) regulations. These regulations, if adopted, will gut existing protections for both domestic and foreign farmworkers and represent a huge step backwards in protecting the hardworking people who put the food on our table.
The regulations will lower farmworker wages, make it easier for local workers to be discriminated against in hiring, and harder for farm workers to obtain decent housing (click here to see a four-page analysis of the regulations).
Numerous recent media reports document how the Bush Administration is making a last minute push to get these and other horrible regulations our before he leaves office.
Please join us in telling the Department of Labor’s Assistant Secretary for Policy, Leon R. Sequeira not to issue these revised regulations. The American people spoke loudly on November 4th and said they had enough with the Bush Administration's anti-worker, anti-immigrant policies. Committee chairmanships are positions of immense power. They should go to responsible leaders who will use those positions to serve the American people and protect the Constitution.
Lieberman has also undermined our security on the domestic front by supporting President Bush in subverting the Constitution. The Bush plan for spying on Americans without a warrant and the rules on torturing prisoners both could have been challenged by Lieberman's Homeland Security Committee, but his only move was to be a cheerleader for those plans.

Millions of vinyl toys—from rubber ducks to teething rings—are contaminated with toxic chemicals called phthalates. Phthalates aren’t there by accident—toy makers use them to make the vinyl soft and flexible—despite growing evidence that it also makes them toxic. And when kids put these toys in their mouths, the toxic chemicals can leach out and enter their tiny bodies.
Fortunately, Congress has the opportunity to make toys safer for children. A new piece of legislation is making its way through Congress that would ban the use of Phthalates. They have no place in children’s toys, especially since safe alternatives exist.
Take action by writing to your member of Congress and urging them to support the strongest version of this legislation. Together, we can make the planet a safer place for our children.

This ancient rainforest is a haven for grizzly bears, thriving salmon runs, bald eagles by the thousand and the elusive Alexander Archipelago wolf. Tell the Bush Administration to close the polluter loopholes and give polar bears full-fledged protection as an endangered species.

We've said for a long time that Japan's so-called research program is actually commercial whaling in a flimsy disguise. But today, we have the evidence in our hands.
After a four-month long undercover investigation, Greenpeace exposed evidence of widespread embezzlement of whale meat occurring right under the noses of the public officials who run the whaling program.
The best cuts of whale meat, used to make whale bacon, are smuggled into crew cabins, preserved in salt, and then shipped home in boxes marked "cardboard" or "salted stuff" to be sold on the black market. Greenpeace intercepted one such box -- worth up to $3,000.
Greenpeace has evidence that more than a ton of whale meat was snuck from the whaling ship this year alone. One of our sources claims to have heard a crew member boast of building a house on the proceeds from his illegal take.
And, after all of this, we're still supposed to believe that the hunt is all in the name of scientific research to help the whales? Come on! Nobody is buying that line anymore.
Now is the time to rock the boat in Japan. The whaling program has been an embarrassment to Japan's Foreign Affairs department all year. Your letters helped cancel the humpback hunt - and now in the spotlight of this scandal, it's time to cancel the rest.
Take action and send a message to the Prime Minister asking him to end whaling for good! We need your help to put an end to "research" whaling once and for all.

Republicans can't win elections based on their failed philosophies, so, they've latched onto a new plan: make it as hard and expensive as possible for people to exercise their constitutionally protected right to vote.
Since the Supreme Court decided two weeks ago to uphold a draconian law in Indiana that requires citizens show a government issued photo ID to vote, Republican legislatures across the country have started moving fast to pass their own version of this horrible law.
And just like the poll taxes and literacy tests of the past, Republicans hide their real purpose under the banner of preventing possible voter fraud. Now, however, our allies on the Hill are telling us that high-ranking members in the House are working behind closed doors with the Bush administration and conservatives in Congress to negotiate a compromise bill -- a bill that will give the administration practically everything they've asked for.

We've said for a long time that Japan's so-called research program is actually commercial whaling in a flimsy disguise. But today, we have the evidence in our hands.
After a four-month long undercover investigation, Greenpeace exposed evidence of widespread embezzlement of whale meat occurring right under the noses of the public officials who run the whaling program.
The best cuts of whale meat, used to make whale bacon, are smuggled into crew cabins, preserved in salt, and then shipped home in boxes marked "cardboard" or "salted stuff" to be sold on the black market. Greenpeace intercepted one such box -- worth up to $3,000.
Greenpeace has evidence that more than a ton of whale meat was snuck from the whaling ship this year alone. One of our sources claims to have heard a crew member boast of building a house on the proceeds from his illegal take.
And, after all of this, we're still supposed to believe that the hunt is all in the name of scientific research to help the whales? Come on! Nobody is buying that line anymore.
Now is the time to rock the boat in Japan. The whaling program has been an embarrassment to Japan's Foreign Affairs department all year. Your letters helped cancel the humpback hunt - and now in the spotlight of this scandal, it's time to cancel the rest.
Take action and send a message to the Prime Minister asking him to end whaling for good! We need your help to put an end to "research" whaling once and for all.
