Right now, Congress is considering the Clean Water Restoration Act, important legislation that clarifies that federal safeguards against water pollution must protect all waters of the United States. Earlier this week, the U.S. Senate held an important hearing on this bill, and the House of Representatives will hold a hearing April 16. Now is the time to tell Congress to stand up for clean water and support the Clean Water Restoration Act!
** Friends of the Earth **
Last week, Friends of the Earth called for the resignation of Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen Johnson. Recently, Administrator Johnson, in lockstep with the Bush White House, has gone into overdrive to undermine or damage many environmental standards before a new administration takes over. Our goal is to generate enough pressure to get Johnson out early, or at least to call enough attention to his misdeeds to impede his under-the-radar slash and burn effort at the EPA.
